The legend
Vrtta — “the wheel”.
The emperor Ashoka set wheels of stone atop polished columns twenty-three centuries ago, and they have not stopped speaking since. Vrtta — “the circle” — lowers that form to the floor of a living room: a calm drum of Pearl White quartzite.
The striations cross the top like latitude lines and disappear into the recessed reveal, a shadow-gap the old masons would have approved of.
Every Vrtta is carved to order in our New Delhi atelier — the block chosen with you, the proportions tuned to your space, the surface finished by hand. Reference size: Ø 110 × 32 cm, in a leathered finish.
A wheel of stone has turned over India since Ashoka raised his pillars.
