Caring for Marble and Natural Stone at Home

Natural stone is far more forgiving than its reputation suggests. A few simple habits keep a piece looking its best for decades, and the rest is just letting the stone be itself.

Seal it, and reseal occasionally

Every piece leaves our atelier sealed. Sealing slows the stone's natural tendency to absorb liquids, buying you time to wipe a spill before it stains. Depending on use, reseal lightly every one to three years. We tell you exactly which sealer suits your piece.

Clean gently

Use warm water and a soft cloth, or a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid anything acidic or abrasive: no vinegar, no lemon, no generic bathroom or kitchen sprays, and no scouring pads. Acids etch marble, leaving dull marks that no amount of cleaning removes.

Prevent stains and etches

In kitchens and dining rooms, the usual culprits are citrus, wine, coffee, oil and turmeric, which is worth special mention in Indian homes. Use coasters and boards, and blot spills rather than wiping them across the surface. In bathrooms, rinse away anything acidic and keep coloured products off the stone.

Let it age

Marble, especially, will develop a soft patina over years of use. This is not damage. It is the quality that makes natural stone feel alive in a way no engineered surface can. Many clients tell us the patina is their favourite thing about living with a piece. Care for it well, and let the rest happen.

Imagine It. Visualize It. We Build It.
